Southside

This vintage cocktail comes from the Southside of Chicago during the prohibition era where it was drunk by mobsters, including Al Capone’s gang. In this fiercely territorial city, gangsters from the North of Chicago had their own drink called the Northside, made from gin and ginger ale.

INGREDIENTS:

60ml Deco No.22 Gin
30ml of lime juice
15ml sugar syrup
8 mint leaves

METHOD:

Add all ingredients to a cocktail shaker with plenty of ice. Shake and then fine strain into a chilled glass.

To add a decadent twist to the recipe, after pouring into the glass, top up with Champagne to make an elegant Southside Royale.
